Hickory and American shad are pushing up the Neuse River in numbers. Typical holding areeas in the Vanceboro and Kinston areas are all producing on shad rigs and flies. There are still good numbers coming up stream and shad have been biting soft plastics in the New Bern area of the river.

Stripes are starting to stage in the New Bern area and are moving towards the spawning grounds. Fishing soft plastic down the ledges have produced quality and quantity. A number of fresh water fish are in the mix in thse same areas including catfish, bass and crappie.
