The Cape Lookout Shootout Tournament Series tournament committee made an announcement on their Facebook page this week that series will be expanding in 2019. They have added a “Southern Division” and “Northern Division”. The Northern Division tournaments will be based out of the Boathouse at Front Street Village in Beaufort, NC and the Southern Division will be based out of Southport Marina in Southport, NC.

“After much thought, preparation and input from the fishing community and sponsors, we feel its time to expand this series. 2019 will be the start of the Yellowifin Cape Lookout Shootout Presented by Nationwide, Yamaha and LPM Homes “Southern Division”. Hosted out of Southport Marina. All Rules, guidelines and formats will be the same as it always has been. Opened to a max of 60 teams with the minimum of 50 and increasing in increments of 5 as needed (50-55-60). Those captains competing in the upcoming 2018 season will have first opportunity to elect to fish the Northern, Southern or Both Divisions. Each division will have a 3 event schedule with a COMBINED Championship. Championship to be hosted out of the Boathouse in Beaufort. This Championship field increase will allow for some intense competition for some awesome payouts as we crown a North Carolina State Champion. Team of the Year honors will be awarded to the top finishing team in each division. We will continue in supporting Military Appreciation Day as they expand with us through the Southport MAD Chapter. We hope this is exciting to you as is it to us.”
-Registration- 2019 registration will not open until February- March of 2019
– Southern Division Boundaries- Cape Lookout Shoal to Georgetown Jetty
– Qualifying- 1/2 the field of each division to qualify adding event winners if not qualified with points
– Qualifying in BOTH Divisions- a team that qualifies in both carries both spots to championship. No teams will move up to fill the lower seeded qualifying spot of qualifier.
